  28.2.2 Interrogative pronouns that cannot be used adjectivally

This type of interrogative pronouns is quite boring for Germans. They are not declined.

28.2.2.1 Was? = What?

Some examples
  Was möchtest du?
= What would you like to have?
  Was ist das dort auf dem Tisch?
= What is on the table?
  but
  Womit willst du es reinigen?
= What do you want to clean it with? (mit was is only used coloquially)
  Worauf willst du es legen?
= On what do you want to put it? (auf was is only used coloquially)
  Woran glaubst du?
= What do you believe in? (an was is only used coloquially)
  Worüber denkst du nach?
= What are you thinking about? (über was is only used coloquially)
